Special Olympics Ireland Games 2014 - Opening Ceremony

On June 12th Special Olympics Ireland held the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics Ireland Games 2014. These games recognise and showcase the ability of our athletes in a way that incorporates the ceremonial elements and includes entertainment and fun for the athletes and all involved with the games.

The Opening Ceremony, held in the Irish City of Culture Limerick, kick-started three days of sports competition and celebration. The Games are primarily based in Limerick but there is also a venue in Clare and a venue in Tipperary.

1,500 athletes from all over Ireland will descend on Limerick for the Games and participate in 13 sports competitions.
