Clonmore National School’s efforts to achieve the school’s 5th Green Flag are well underway. The school hopes to be awarded the An Taisce Green Flag for Biodiversity in May 2014.
On the 18th of September we held a “ Biodiversity Day of Action” in conjunction with a visit from Paddy Madden from the “Heritage in Schools” scheme. During the course of the day the pupils discovered the wonderful world of biodiversity in our school’s surrondings.
We investigated the habitats, eco systems and wildlife species in our area. The pupils of Clonmore N S thoroughly enjoyed their “Biodiversity Day”.
Some of the Biodiversity initatives which are now underway in our school include the creation of a wildlife and butterfly garden, the care of our birds during the Winter months, the placing of hedgehog boxes in our hedgerows along with the creation of a leaf pile to provide a habitat for minibeasts.
