FG TD PLeased that Leader in Tipp Will Benefit
Noel Coonan TD has welcomed funding for North Tipperary LEADER Partnership announced last Wednesday by his Fine Gael colleague and Environment Minister Phil Hogan. The Minister released €90 million of funding under the LEADER elements of the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013.
“I am very pleased that North Tipperary LEADER Partnership will benefit from this funding. It will have a positive ripple effect on LEADER project applications. Due to changes at European level, the approval of projects under this programme was postponed. Now the Minister is authorising the issuing of contracts for projects which have the necessary approvals in place.
“The Minister is asking North Tipperary LEADER Partnership and other Local Development Companies to let the Department know which projects are ready to proceed and ensure only the best projects with the highest impact are funded.”
“I realise the significance of this funding towards projects in rural communities in Tipperary. It is important for the future of our rural areas and acknowledges the valuable input of Community and Voluntary groups who work to progress these projects. This shows Fine Gael in Government supports this work and encourages their efforts,” said Deputy Coonan.
“As Minister Hogan outlined when making the announcement, the money will facilitate access to sustainable employment opportunities in rural areas, it will support sustainable communities and enhance rural economies for business creation and development into the future.”
North Tipperary LEADER Partnership is one of 35 Local Action Groups/Local Development Companies who are contracted by the Department of Environment, Community & Local Government to deliver LEADER elements of the RDP.
