Cllr Michael Fitzgerald requested that “this (District) make every effort to assist Cashel Boxing Club to locate a premises in Cashel.
This Club is of huge benefit to Cashel and surrounding areas and they need every help to secure suitable accommodation to progess.” Management responded: “The District would support the Cashel Boxing Club as far as possible. However the Council does not have a suitable building within its ownership in Cashel that could accommodate the Club’s needs.” Cllr Fitzgerald said he was somewhat disappointed with the response. The Club was founded in 2011 following a Joint Policing Committee meeting with Cashel Town Council. “It was spearheaded by Sister Mary Walsh who was trying to curb anti-social behaviour,” said Cllr Fitzgerald.
