Roscrea Lions Club recently launched their annual Charity run which will feature two independent running events.
The 2014 events, which will see the 10K run being partnered by Run Ireland, was launched recently when it was announced that all the funds raised will go to local community projects. Both the 10k and 5k races will commence and conclude at the same location but follow different routes.
The races will commence at the Monastery and finish at Roscrea Rugby Club where shower facilities are available and refreshments provided. The races will take place on Saturday, October 11th, 2014 at 11.30am and to take part every runner, jogger and walker must register with run Ireland on their website www.runireland.com on or before October 9th.
Race numbers and running shirts can be collected at the Abbey Hall in Roscrea on Friday the 10th of October between 8pm and 10pm and on the morning of the race at Roscrea Rugby Club between 9am and 10.45am.
The Lions club would also encourage people to use the event to raise funds for their own chosen charity, club, school etc. This year theire will be prizes for various age groups including over 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. For more information including sponsorship cards etc see www.lionsclubroscrea.org.
Charity Pop Up Shop
A charity shop will operate in Sean Egan’s Butcher’s premises, Main Street, Roscrea from Tuesday 7th Oct to Saturday 11th Oct. 10am. to 5pm. Entire proceeds to Team Hope Shoebox Appeal and Church of Ireland funds. Items still accepted for sale, please contact Heather Evans 0505-22301
Roscrea Youth Centre
The Youth Centre has returned after it’s summer break. Juniors from 7.30pm to 9.30pmevery Thursday night and seniors from 9.15pm – 10.15pm every Thursday night.
