An Taisce are encouraging all community groups, clubs and schools to undertake a Spring Clean - maybe you could organise one during the Month of April? If you would like to register for the Annual National Spring Clean you can telephone An Taisce at (01) 400 2219 or register your event online at www.nationalspringclean.org.
They will also provide litter pickers, gloves, bags and high visibility vests (max 2 vests per group). Locally Thurles Town Council will also make bags available to any group arranging a clean up. If you arrange an event between 8am and 4pm, (Mon - Fri) Thurles Town Council may be able to pick up the rubbish from you during these hours/days. This must be done by prior arrangement before you commence your clean up. Alternatively, if you complete a clean up at the weekend and need the Town Council to take away the rubbish you will have to arrange secure storage over the weekend and ensure that no one adds domestic rubbish to the material - if you can store the material from a weekend collection you can call Thurles Town Council and arrange a pick up during hours of 8am to 4pm (Mon To Fri). Town Council number is (0504) 21433.
Refresh Thurles encourages all Resident’s Associations, Sports Clubs, Schools and community groups to participate in the National Spring Clean Up.
The Group had modest success with our projects in 2012: we entered 3 Thurles Locations in the Dulux Let’s Color Competition and the Band Hall was selected to receive 150 litres of free paint and Michael Loughnane and his team have given the entire building a brighter look for all the people using this great facility. Refresh Thurles nominated 17 Thurles Business Premises for the North Tipperary Best Shop Front Competition and De Burcas Pub was chosen as the overall winner for North Tipperary.
In 2013 Refresh Thurles will continue to work with Thurles Town Council and any interested groups in Thurles towards an entry in the National Tidy Towns Competition - your input and support would be most welcome. Email: Refreshthurles@gmail.com With a Town Park and a Liberty Square Development Plan under consideration we have a lot to be proud of in Thurles.
