Local animal charity employee, Sarah Connolly of Paws Animal Rescue in County Tipperary, Ireland has won Animal Charity Employee of the Year in the brand new Petplan and Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) Animal Charity Awards.
The awards celebrate the outstanding work of animal charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK and Sarah Connolly is the first animal charity employee to receive the accolade, ‘Animal Charity Employee of the Year.’
Sarah has worked at Paws Animal Rescue for 16 years, having joined the organisation when she was just 13 years old. During this time, Sarah has worked to provide shelter and care to thousands of abused, neglected and abandoned dogs throughout the county. She remembers one success story in particular – a Greyhound who had suffered terribly before it was rescued but with the help of lots of hands-on care, the Greyhound was successfully rehomed with loving owners and transformed into a tail wagging happy and healthy dog.
Sarah said, “Wow, this is absolutely amazing! I would like to thank Petplan and the ADCH for this award. It is wonderful to be honoured for doing the work that you love by your peers. When I started volunteering for PAWS I would never for one minute imagined that 15 years later I would not only be still working there but also receiving this award. Our work makes a difference to so many lives and very few people have the joy of saying that about their jobs.”
Simon Masding, Petplan’s head of sales and partnerships added, “Animal wellbeing is central to all we do at Petplan. We work with over 1,500 animal charities and give over £2million to assist them every year. The Petplan and ADCH Animal Charity Awards is another way for us to support and recognise the teams and individuals at charities dedicated to improving the lives of animals. Sarah is a great example of the fantastic work that charity employees do on a day to day basis. We are delighted to name her Animal Charity Employee of the Year.” For further information go to www.petplan.co.uk/charityawards
