Barna Active Retirement Group - The A.G.M. of the group took place in Barna Hall on Wednesday, 27th February at which there was a good attendance. The Chairperson Carmel Peyton welcomed all to the meeting and went on to say that the past year had been a very good one for us and hoped that 2013 will be as good.
She went on to thank the various people who had helped them out in different ways, this was very much appreciated. Sympathy was extended to the families of those who suffered bereavements since our last A.G.M., Matt Gleeson, Ethine Flynn and Mary Connolly. The minutes of the last A.G.M. were read and adopted by the meeting as were the Secretary and Treasurer’s reports.
All of the out going officers were re-elected, this has been the case for a few years now as no new people are willing to come to the top table. The following are the officers for 2013. Chairperson, Carmel Peyton, Secretary, Agnes Toohey, Treasurer, Peggy Glennon. The remainder of the meeting was taken up discussing what the group intend doing during the year. And these will include a holiday in June, trip to the races and a day at the seaside. To finish the evening we were treated to a lovely tea. The next meeting will be on this Wednesday night, March 6th at 8 p.m.
