A significant change has been made to the fixtures plan by the County Competitions Control Committee (CCC) for the concluding stages of the Tipperary Water County Senior Hurling Championship - the quarter-finals are now scheduled to take place on the week-ending Sunday, September 30th.

The CCC - led by chairman Joe Kennedy and secretary Tom Maher - made it clear earlier this season that the master plan dates could be brought forward based on the performance of the Tipperary inter-county teams in their respective championships.

And, the county senior hurling championship quarter-finals are now scheduled to take place on the week-ending September 30th; the semi-finals on the week-ending October 7th and the final on the week-ending October 21st.

Originally the quarter-finals were planned for the week-ending October 7th, the semi-finals for the week-ending October 14th and the final for the week-ending October 28th, but recent events have forced alterations to the master plan with Thurles Sarsfields and Loughmore-Castleiney, for instance, finishing all square following last Sunday's thrilling Cententary Agri Mid Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship final (2-28 apiece). It is not known at this point when the Mid Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship final will be replayed.

Right now, of course, Thurles Sarsfields, Drom & Inch and Upperchurch-Drombane are gearing themselves up for a three-way play-off after all three sides finished on equal points in group three of the county senior hurling championship - two of the three sides involved will progress directly to the knock-out stage of the championship following the play-off.

On Tuesday, September 11th Drom & Inch take on Upperchurch-Drombane in Templetuohy (8pm), Holycross then hosts the meeting of the winner of that clash with Thurles Sarsfields on Sunday, September 16th (5pm) while the loser of the opening game will collide with Thurles Sarsfields on Wednesday, September 19th in Templetuohy (7.30pm).

The only side qualified for the preliminary quarter-finals thus far is South champions Killenaule.

SÉAMUS Ó RIAIN CUP

Both quarter-finals in the Séamus Ó Riain Cup (Roinn II of the Tipperary Water County Senior Hurling Championship) take place on Sunday, September 16th - Silvermines v JK Bracken's in Toomevara (1pm) and Templederry Kenyons v Holycross-Ballycahill in Kilcommon (2pm). Burgess and Moycarkey-Borris await the winners in the semi-finals of the competition.
