Thurles Town advanced to the 4th round of the Tipperary Cup after a fine win over Borrisoleigh at the Greyhound Stadium on Sunday Last.
They got off to a great start when Stephen Grehan with a great volley put Town 1 up after 5 minutes, The team continued to create the better chances and went 2 up in the 20th minute with a fine headed goal from Tom Kirby from a Luke Jordan cross. Borisoleigh pressed hard in search of goals but some great saves from Davy Coppinger kept them scoreless while Robbie Jordan with a great finish had Town 3 up at the break.
The second half saw Thurles continue in a similar fashion and further increase their lead with a well-taken Pat Lawlor goal 20 minutes after the restart. Robbie Jordan added his second and Thurles fifth with a fine finish following great approach work from Tom Dorney. Thurles continued to put some good moves together while Borrisoleigh posed problems on the break with good counter attacks. Thurles eased into the next round with 10 minutes remaining when Owen Dorney completed the scoring with a well-taken goal. Thurles Town are away to Moneygall in a League game on Saturday next with a 2.30pm kick-off. Players are requested to assemble at 1pm.
