Ballyhoura trail run from Kilfinane 2016
The Masters cross Country were held in Riverstick on Sunday. It was a very murky morning with drizzle and light rain and some fog early on, but thankfully it cleared before the Lady’s race. Rosemary Ryan form Dooneen AC left nothing to chance as she charged to the front and led the field from start to finish, to take a super win. She looked very strong as she looks set to defend the National title that she won in Waterford last year.
Sean McGrath from East Cork AC won the Masters men’s race in similar style he hit the front early on and opened a gap and never looked back. He was delighted with his win on the fine course that Riverstick AC provided on the day and he performed really well after a very tough and fast race the week before in Galbally.
The British and Irish Masters was run in Derry on Saturday our Irish 0/35 squad took the main prize on the day, there were two Munster men on that gold medal team Paul Moloney from Mallow AC and Sturt Moloney from Mooreabbey Milers AC. It is a pity that Munster Masters and the British and Irish clashed, better planning might be the way to go if we are to have better provincially races and also even better quality international teams.
Our trail run is on Saturday 2nd of December in Kilfinane at 10.00 am in Kilfinane we will be meeting in front of the Church on the Morning. Please wear trail shoes on the day as the trail head may be slippery. We will have a turning point for those who are not interested in doing the 10 km route and there will be refreshments after.
