Tipperary County Council recognises the strategic importance of broadband for The Premier County to assist development and help create jobs.

The Chief Executive Officer of Tipperary County Council Joe MacGrath today acknowledged the importance of a reliable broadband rollout in The Premier County in terms of creating an sustaining development and employment.

Speaking at a meeting of Tipperary County Council in Nenagh, Mr MacGrath in responding to queries from elected members about the National Broadband Strategy, said that the Government is committed to ensuring that all parts of the country have adequate broadband provision and the establishment of the NBS is evidence of that. And, recently the CEO highlighted the poor quality broadband in Thurles in putting forward a case for Tipperary to be made  a priority.

Councillor Jim Ryan had pointed out that Thurles had not been included in the MANS broadband rollout and had fallen seriously behind as a result.
