Tipperary deaths: Terryglass mourns passing of Claire Ni Fhearghail

The late Claire Ni Fhearghail

The communities of Terryglass and Borrisokane were united in mourning this Friday as they said farewell to Claire Ni Fhearghail.

Claire, who was originally from Bray, County Wicklow, had a huge impact on her adopted village of Terryglass, contributing to many local initiatives, especially through her volunteerism.

Among the community organisations she was involved in was the setting up of Lower Ormond community radio station, Stella FM, which was based in Borrisokane.

Ms Ni Fhearghail taught for a while at Shannonside Language Centre.

Prior to teaching, she had 15 years’ experience in verbatim court reporting and stenography. This experience was in commercial, medical and legal fields and included international arbitrations.

Ms Ni Fhearghail died on April 22 and a service to celebrate Claire’s life is due to take place this Friday, April 27, at 2pm in the Victorian Chapel, Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harolds Cross, Dublin 6W.

The family has requested that all attending wear bright coloured clothing.

Claire was the dearly loved daughter of Pádraig and Áine Ó Fearaíl; much loved mother of Oisín and Ríona; adored sister of Eithne, Rόnán and Aoife; fondly remembered by Eoin Ó Madagáin, sadly missed by her brother-in-law Mark Gogarty; sister-in-law Kathryn Casey, relatives and friends.
