Work on Newport park hit by delays after discovery of ‘giant hogweed’

Work on the new town park in Newport is set to be delayed after Tipperary County Council discoverd giant hogweed on the site, Nenagh MSC councillors have been told.

There is also an issue with run-off on the site, said district administrator Rosemary Joyce.

She pointed out that eliminating the invasive species would require a specialist contractor and tackling it would need to be carried out over a number of years.

It could delay the tender documents by a couple of weeks and wil impact on the public consultation process, she told Cllr Fiona Bonfield.
