Tipperary TD Alan Kelly welcomes Nenagh Family Resource Centre's successful application

Deputy Alan Kelly

Tipperary TD Alan Kelly has welcomed the announcement that Nenagh has been chosen for a family resource centre.

"I am delighted to confirm that North Tipperary Community Services (NTCS) has been successful with their application for a Family Resource Centre at Silver Street, Nenagh. This is great news for the management and staff of NTCS and the families and community groups who use the service," he said.

The objective of the Family Resource Programme is to combat disadvantage and to strengthen and empower children, families and local communities. The programme is a national programme core funded by Tusla, which provides funding to 109 family resource centres in Ireland. This number will rise to 120 in 2018 and the additional centres will be supported due to the additional funding provided to Tusla as part of Budget 2018.

"Family centres across the country provide supports to families such as counselling, education, youth groups and training courses.

"I would like to congratulate NTCS on their success with their application, this is a very positive development for the area," said the Nenagh-based Labour TD.
