Tipperary gardai arrest motorist who tested positive for cannabis and alcohol at checkpoint

A motorist stopped at an MIT checkpoint in Tipperary on Saturday was arrested by gardai after testing positive for both cannabis and alcohol. 

On Saturday night September 15, Cahir gardai carrying out a routine checkpoint outside the town stopped a motorist who was found to test positive for cannabis and alcohol.

The driver, who was unaccompanied despite holding a Learner permit, also did not have any L plates displayed. 

The motorist was subsequently arrested with a court date to follow.
