Mo Chara Animal Rescue - Genteel Gino

Sleek, elegant lines. Smooth acceleration, graceful speed and undeniable sophistication…. No, I’m not talking about a luxury Italian car – I’m telling you about myself! My name is Gino and I am a whippet.
Not so long ago I found myself in Nenagh dog pound. It was a confusing time, I was a little bit frightened and unsure – I couldn’t understand how I ended up there, all I knew is it surely wasn’t my fault. I waited for my people to come and get me, making myself as comfortable as possible... but they never came. Before much time had passed, I heard the pound people talking about how my ‘time was up’ and I really started to panic. I need not have worried though, because that very day team Mo Chara came to my rescue and took me away from the pound. “What a handsome boy!” they cooed, making my eyes light up, “We’ll call you Gino!”
I reckon I’m about 3 or 4 years old, I can’t be certain you see, as we dogs don’t count our age like you humans do. I am a laid-back boy; some even say I’m a little shy when you first meet me. I enjoy a cosy bed and a full tummy – that’s not too much to ask is it? Oh, I also love leisurely walks and enjoy meeting other dogs. I might be a dinky little man (I’m told I’m just 18 inches high to the shoulder) but I have a huge heart that’s just overflowing with love. I’m very clean in my kennel though I might need a little refresher training when I move into a house but I’m a clever chap and I’ll pick it up quickly. I am a pleasure to walk on a lead (the Mo Chara team joke that I’m too posh to pull!). My sleek coat requires very little grooming. I am vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. I don’t mean to brag, but I’m quite the catch, aren’t I?
I’d love a home of my own – don’t get me wrong, the rescue ain’t bad but let’s be honest, a kennel isn’t quite as nice as a couch by the fire, is it? Could you spare a little room on your couch for me? I’m sure that if you would only come to meet me I could persuade you to take me home with cuddles and tail wags.
