If you enjoy walking but want to get more from your walk, why not join “Walking Buddies”. Walking Buddies is a group of male and female walkers who meet every Thursday evening at 7.30pm outside Collins Bar Dooradoyle. They walk for approx. 5-6K every week and return to Collins Bar for complimentary Tea/Coffee.
The group was set up three years ago by local ladies Eimear Bulfin, Rachel Lucy, Susan Ahearn and Mary Flynn as they wanted to meet new people while getting active. With support from local businesses Collins Bar, Limerick Sports Partnership and Limericks 95fm the group has become a great success. To become a member there is a small annual fee of €15.00.
Eimear and Mary completed the Slí na Sláinte Walking Leader Training Course, with the Irish Heart Foundation last year and now offer the group physical activity guidelines and how they relate to walking, a walking program for different fitness levels, Advice on issues such as posture, technique, stretching, intensity, clothing, and safety issues.
The group welcomes both male and females from all over at all fitness levels. We also hold Walks/hikes every 6-7 weeks and we will be going to Keeper Hill on the 13th of May. For more information please contact Stephen 0858812815 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
