Mo Chara

Mo Chara had great support on their first Open Day. Thank you to everybody who came and made donations.

On Sunday, December 10th we proudly held our very first Open Day at our Kennel Centre in Moyne.

Despite the terribly cold weather many people braved the snow to join us - bringing presents of food, treats and toys for our dogs (who were all snug in their winter jackets and clearly enjoying all the attention on the day. We’re so grateful to all who came to share a little Christmas spirit with us!

We were delighted to see some of our former rescue dogs come back with their new families to visit us and get their Christmas portraits taken by our photographer. Great fun was had by all with our wonderful tombola and raffle, balloon animals and our delicious BBQ in the snow (which may be a first for an Irish rescue)! Cups of hot chocolate, soup, tea and coffee kept hands warm and bellies full!

As always we would like to thank everyone for their support and to the local businesses who very kindly donated items as prizes for the day: The Gift Rooms, Liberty Pharmacy, Thurles Centenary, Ronaynes, Frank Roches, Seamus Heaney, Dwans Hardware, Boyles, Tesco Thurles, Celtic Vegetarian Cuisine, Tara’s Professional Dog Grooming, Stakelums Hardware, Stakelums Toyshop and Brittas Vets. I’m sorry if we’ve missed anybody – the generosity has just been overwhelming!
Speaking of generosity, we were thrilled with how many donations were delivered for the dogs on the day – it’s safe to say they will have very full bellies and a very full toybox this Christmas Season! We are continuing our shoe box appeal for food, toys, treats, shampoo and brushes etc. and a list of local drop-off points can be found on our Facebook page.

Fostering

In the Winter months, more animals than ever need our help and so we are desperately seeking Foster families who could welcome a dog into their home for a period of 4 – 12 weeks over the festive season. Fostering saves lives. We provide food, bedding, toys and any medical care so no cost is incurred by the foster family. If you are interested in fostering a dog, please contact us on Facebook or on 087-6576022. Foster homes must allow the dog to live indoors as part of the family and have a secure garden for exercise and toileting.

For more information about fostering a dog or adopting from Mo Chara Animal Rescue, please call 087-2577182 (for cat adoptions and general queries) or 087-6576022 (for dog adoptions), email mocharaanimalrescue@live.ie or find us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/mocharaanimalrescue).
