Independent TD, Deputy Mattie McGrath has welcomed the announcement by Sean Canney, Minister at the Office of Public Works and Flooding of the allocation of funding under the Minor Flood Mitigation Works & Coastal Protection Scheme for flood alleviation works in Ballinderry.
“I welcome the allocation of over €47,700 for works in Ballinderry which will include the instillation of a new stone filter drain with perforated 225mm storm pipe and large gully following the successful application under the Minor Flood Mitigation Works & Coastal Protection Scheme by Tipperary County Council.
Deputy McGrath said he hoped that these works can statr and be completed as soon as possible and that these new measures will prevent any further flooding issues in the area.
Meanwhile, the issue was also raised at Nenagh Municipal District Council by Cllr Joe Hannigan, who said the issue affected five or six families in the area. He said he was looking forward to the work starting at an early date.
