Morris nominates Nenagh AFC for municipal award

Nenagh's Cllr Seamus Morris has nominated Nenagh AFC for the most significant contribution to the promotion of the Nenagh M D in 2016.

He sai the reason behind the nomination was because of the club's dedication to promoting Nenagh as the site for Regional FAI status and the successful application for Sports Capital grants for the first all-weather pitch in North Tipperary.

“This project has the potential to dramatically drive on the cause of sports tourism in Tipperary and provide a full all-weather pitch that will enhance the availability for national, club and school soccer competitions by being available all year round,” he said.

The Nenagh AFC complex provides up-to-date sporting facilities for many types of sports for people with different levels of abilities already, including a burgeoning gymnastics and martial arts centre along with education facilities and sports tourism facilities.

“The hard work of the voluntary Nenagh AFC and Nenagh AFC Brickfields committee should be rewarded for their efforts at promoting the municipal area into a regional centre capable of hosting international underage FAI games,” said Cllr Morris.
