Bord Gáis Energy has announced that Little Flower N.S. from Ballytarsna in Cashel and Lissenhall N.S. from Nenagh are winners at this year’s Student Theatre Awards.
The winners were announced at a special awards show hosted by actor Simon Delaney at the theatre on Wednesday, 4th March. Over 2,000 students representing 57 schools around Ireland attended the ceremony.
Little Flower N.S. was awarded the top accolade in the Best Musical Number category for their performance of ‘Jacob & Sons’ from the musical Joseph. The judges awarded them first place as they felt it was an energy filled number which brought the whole school together and was delivered with great passion.
The school were also selected as one of the schools to perform at the awards on the day and took to the stage to perform their winning number.
Lisenhall N.S won the Best Direction award for their production entitled ‘Call of Duty’. The judges gave the school the top prize in this category thanks to an ambitious and original project which was brilliantly handled by both the pupils and teachers.
As part of their prize, both schools will receive a bursary from Bord Gáis Energy.
