Deputy Tom Hayes has expressed his disappointment at Tipperary Town Council’s recent vote which effectively ended plans for a much needed bypass for the town.
Deputy Hayes said: “It’s unfortunate that this project was shot down, despite what I think is the overwhelming desire for a bypass for the town. It’s unfortunate that the plan was denied a future by Councillors from the very party that denied any infrastructural development in Tipperary during their term in Government.”
He added: “The funding for this project was available and was put forward by the Transport Minister Leo Varadkar, on the condition that the plan was approved by Council members. I would hate to see this bypass fall by the wayside and I will be meeting with the Minister next week to see where we can go from here because I am determined to find a way to move forward with this project and to meet with local groups who have concerns to see what can be done.”
