All Sections in Roscrea Scout Group are now back in full swing after the Summer break. Already our Tuesday and Wednesday Beavers have been to the swimming pool and all the Beavers had a great time.
Our Tuesday Cub Pack paid a visit to Roscrea Fire Station on Tuesday 11th October. The Cubs really enjoyed the evening learning about the job that our volunteer firemen do, but even that really worthwhile work paled into insignificance for our Cubs as they were given the opportunity to use the fire hose, sit in the fire engine and turn on the sirens.
On Thursday 14th of October our Thursday Beavers had a visit from Roscrea ISPCA where they met Sandy the Collie, Bella the terrier and DJ the West Highland who are all Rescue Dogs. They talked about pets and animals in general and discussed different aspects of the ISPCA. The dogs did some tricks before finishing up for the evening with a group photo.
On the weekend of 8th and 9th of October our Thursday Cub Pack had their first overnight of the year in our Scout Centre in Srahan. For some of the new Cubs it was their first time camping and they really enjoyed the experience. The weather started off well on Saturday but gradually broke. The bad weather however did not manage to dampen the spirits of the Cubs and they all enjoyed a great weekends camp.
On Saturday October 8th our Tuesday Beavers went on a Backwoods hike to Orange Hill in Golden Grove. We met in the Scout Hall at 11am and a big thanks to all the parents who helped out with transport to and from Orange Hill. Whilst in the woods the Beavers got to practice some Backwoods cooking and shelter building. Everyone had a brilliant morning and the only disappointment was when it was time to pack up and leave.
