Fine Gael’s Deputy Noel Coonan has revealed that contractors were being invited this week to prequalify for a tender list for the construction of Borrisokane’s Day Care Centre.
He said that the news came following extensive representations made by the him to the Health Service Executive seeking advancement with the project.
“The HSE Mid West senior operations officer has informed me that the notice for contractors will be put on the procurement website this week and contractors will be invited to prequalify for a tender list.
The design team have prepared tender documents following the earlier granting of planning permission,” said Deputy Coonan.
“The design team continues to meet to advance the project. Throughout the duration of the last Government I relentlessly pressed the then Minister for Health for this project to commence as a matter of priority and now, under the Fine Gael-led Government, the project will finally come to fruition with construction to start near year’s end,” he said. “The Borrisokane action committee has portrayed great patience in waiting for the centre to be finally constructed, and I will continue to work on behalf of all those who will benefit from the residency provided in the future.
The completed project will alleviate pressure at the Hospital of the Assumption, Thurles and the Dean Maxwell Home, Roscrea where there is a large demand for residency,” said Deputy Coonan.
