Corbally Parish Prize Night, Clonmore

A total prize fund in excess of J1,800 will up for grabs in Fitzpatrick’s Country Club, Clonmore, this Friday 23rd November when the Monster Draw in aid of Corbally Parish will take place, the first prize being 150 bales of briquettes. Among the other prizes are racing, dinner and overnight accommodation for the Fairyhouse Grand National, substantial cash prizes, dinner in Fiacri House, and timber. There will be music on the night by Martin Delaney, dancing, and finger food, all included for a cover charge of J7.50. The chance of winning valuable door prizes will also be included with admission and many more prizes including coal, briquettes, Sunday lunch in Fitzpatrick’s will also be won on the night which kicks off around 9pm. All welcome.

Service for Swaziland

An ecumenical service to raise awareness of and funds for the Luyengo Farm Project in Swaziland will be held on Sunday 25th November in St. Cronan’s Church, Church St., Roscrea at 7.30pm. The speaker will be the Church of Ireland Bishop of Limerick and Killaloe, The Rt. Rev. Trevor Williams, who will show a video presentation of his recent fact-finding trip. The music at the service will have a distinctly African flavour, being led by the choir of Foundation Ministries, Ennis. The collection will go towards the project via the aid agency USPG. Handel’s Messiah comes to Roscrea

Saturday 15th December will be a memorable evening for Roscrea and district when Handel’s timeless masterpiece, Messiah, is performed in St. Cronan’s Church, Church St. at 7.30pm. Performed by the East Cork Choral Society under the direction of Colin Nicholls, Messiah should prove to be a very fitting completion to St. Cronan’s bicentenary celebrations of 2012. It will also provide a rare opportunity for the local community of Roscrea and its environs to hear this inspired oratorio performed locally during the festive season. Tickets are priced at J15 and are available in advance from St. Cronan’s parishioners and from Rev. Lesley Robinson @ 087 9091561. Tickets will only be available at the door if not sold out. Doors open on the night at 6.30pm and there is unreserved seating. Put the date in your diary and be a part of a truly memorable evening.
