The Late James Hennessy - The death occurred at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise on Thursday, April 28th of James (Sham) Hennessy of Coolowley. He had been in failing health for some time. A very quiet and inoffensive gentleman he was a hard working farmer. He is the last member of his generation. Sham is sadly mourned by his nephews Paschal and Jimmy, niece Essie, grandnephew Stephen, relatives, friends and neighbours. Reposing was at O’Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Rathdowney. Rosary was recited on the Saturday night. On Sunday morning, May 1st removal took place to Killesmeestia Church. Requiem Mass was celebrated and was followed by burial in Bealady Cemetery in the family plot. May he rest in peace.
Another Closure - There was great sadness in the Hawthorn Lounge, Ballacolla on Saturday night when the owner announced she had to close the Lounge and Entertainment section of her premises. It has been a home from home meeting place for many years and a very happy and friendly place. However with the recession hitting everyone and people unable to socialize like before the Hawthorn has taken a blow. It will always be remembered as the very best venue where large crowds gathered. Everybody feels so sad for Avril and hope the tide will turn for her business. Apparently now many people will be forced to stay at home and will miss meeting their friends.
Grow - Grow is an Interdenominational Group and is of great importance. If you are someone who suffers from depression, shyness, anxiety, panic attacks, loneliness or you just want to speak to someone then come along to the Mooreville Clinic, Rathdowney any Thursday at 2.30 p.m. No appointment and no fee. Easter - The Easter Ceremonies in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Rathdowney were very well attended and beautifully carried out. The Church was very prayerful and peaceful. Fr. Eamon Foley P.P. performed all the ceremonies and he thanked everybody who helped him to make Holy Week so successful.
