Following a meeting between Independent TD Mattie McGrath and Management at SUSI Higher Education Grant, Deputy McGrath has announced that a number of changes are planned for next year to ensure that Students do not face the same difficulties in applying for Student Grants that they had this year.
Deputy McGrath met with SUSI management last to discuss first-hand the difficulties being experienced by Students who have applied for Higher Education Grants and to suggest ways that the system can be improved.
“We had a very good meeting and discussed a number of ways that the system could be improved. There have been a number of common problems which have caused most of the difficulties for students and I stressed the importance of having these problems rectified to make the system more efficient,” said Deputy McGrath
“A number of proposals which were discussed and where improvements are now planned include where SUSI will now liaise directly with Revenue and with Social Welfare for information. The current system had students trying to liaise with these different agencies, which was causing huge delays and confusion as many students were unclear of exactly what was required,”said Deputy McGrath
