Nenagh Town Council is preparing to circulate a brief to two groups who have expressed an interest in re-developing the Scout’s Hall.
“What we all want is for the project to be a success,” Mr Purcell said. “In order to compare, engage and organise it’s helpful to be able to look at a proposal under different headings.”
The briefing document outlines what information will be required by the council executive before moving forward to a more formal application process. The brief, designed to help the town council to make an informed decision, revolves around the social and economic viability of the proposed project, the legal structure of the interested group and any planned alterations to the structure of the Scout’s Hall.
“When we meet them they will know what they need to have ready. We won’t be asking any questions that they won’t be anticipating,” added town manager Marcus O’Connor.
Although Independent Councillor Hughie McGrath had previously expressed reservations regarding this process, he said that, “hopefully the interested groups will be able to step up to the mark”.
Nenagh Town Council plans to meet both groups on Wednesday, February 15.
