New Year Bundles of Joy
CLONMEL Hospital's Maternity Ward welcomed three little bundles of joy into the world on Sunday, more than 24 hours after the New Year was ushered in. The first Tipperary babies born in this decade were all born on Sunday, January 2nd. Proud Mum, Denise Hayes, from Ballingarry, first took her daughter into her arms shortly after 2 o'clock in the morning. Sophie weighed in at exactly 2,890 gs.
Later in the morning, at 9.13am, Deirdre Henebry of Carrick-on-Suir gave birth to a little boy, who weighed 4,238 gs. Information about the third baby was not disclosed at the time of going to press.
There were two babies born at South Tipperary General Hospital on Christmas Day. Meanwhile, the total 2009 figure for births at South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel was 1,369. Up to the end of November 2010, there had been 1,193 births recorded there.
