Angry Council Exchanges Over Leaflet Drop
THERE were angry exchanges at Monday night’s meeting of Nenagh Town Council when Councillor Conor Delaney was roundly criticised for a leaflet drop which the Fine Gael Councillor made in Knockanpierce, Nenagh
Labour Cllr Lalor McGee raised the issue.
Cllr McGee indicated that he was unhappy that following an in-committee meeting of the Town Council Cllr Conor Delaney had then made a leaflet drop in Knockanpierce which related directly to a “sensitive” issue.
Cllr McGee asked the Mayor what was “the point in having in-committee meetings”.
Independent Councillor Hughie McGrath also asked for the issue to be clarified and said: “the message I want going out of here is that there are no secret deals going on in in-committee meetings”.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Tom Mulqueen revealed that he was “flabbergasted” when he learned of the leaflet drop while Sinn Féin Councillor Seámus Morris described the leaflet drop as a “cheap bit of publicity”.
