Nenagh Town Council is stil awaiting proposals from interested groups over what to do with the town’s derelict Scouts Hall.

A number of groups attended a meeting in Nenagh Arts Centre on March 7 to establish what the hall could be used for, and it was generally agreed that any group which wished to express a further interest would contact the town council before the end of March.

However, a council spokesperson told the Tiperary Star this week that they had not received any substantive proposal following the meeting.

“One group that did not attend the meeting did express an interest, but they had no proposals in relation to funding,” the spokesperson said.

However, the spokesperson said that the group, which was involved in youth work, was interested in working with other groups to reopen the hall that has remained closed for a number of years.

The council official was not sure what the next stage in the process would be, but expected that it would be raised at the next town council meeting. “In the meantime, we await details.”
