North Tipperary County Council has placed repeater signal signs at Killeen National School to alert motorists to the presence of children, Nenagh / Borrisokane area councillors have been told.
And area engineer Peter Fee said that when the weather improved the council will look at cutting back the trees on the approaches to the school as well as placing traffic calming signs on the roadway.
Meanwhile, he said that the junction near Kilruane National School was a priority for the council as there were reports of a couple of near misses there over the Christmas period.
“The problem is that drivers are coming from the church and driving straight through the junction,” he said. “There is a need for some realignment.”
