Local Fine Gael TD Tom Hayes has received assurances from the Town Council that every effort is being made to deal with the flooding at Cormac’s Cemetery in Cashel. The flooding occurred during the recent heavy rainfall in early August.
Deputy Hayes received a number of queries from distressed constituents following the incident.
“The flooding problem will be resolved through the construction of an embankment on the Cemetery and Recycling Centre boundary, as well as investigating a possible diversion of the stream in an effort to limit the possibility of future flooding in the area. The Council will also conduct a full cleaning of the stream as part of their works.
“Understandably the flooding at Cormac’s Cemetery caused considerable grief to a number of local families. I welcome the assurances provided by the Council that this particular problem will be addressed to ensure it doesn’t happen again in the future” Tom Hayes said.
