Two Rockwell TY Students Michaela Kavanagh (Tipperary) and Sarah Faulkner (Clonmel) will have unique excuses for not returning to school after the Easter Holidays. Both students have just departed for China to study the language and culture at a Shanghai university for a two week period. The girls received much sought after scholarships, beating stiff competition throughout the Munster region. The girls will also learn such skills as calligraphy and martial arts during their stay. This is a major achievement, considering that they both only began studying Chinese Language and Culture in September 2011 as part of their TY programme. Michaela and Sarah will bring the total of TY students to 28 who have partaken in school organised exchanges or charity work. Five students have gone on a German exchange with our partner school in Pyrmount while seven have undertaken French exchanges with our partner schools in Paris and Nay. Fourteen of our students have also just returned from work with the Hope Foundation in Calcutta raising over €48,000 in the process.
