The Art Service of South Tipperary County Council is pleased to announce that applications are now being invited from individual artists, resident in or originally from South Tipperary for the 2013 Artist Bursary Award Scheme. This scheme aims to support artist’s living in and from South Tipperary in developing their own practice.
The Arts Bursary Awards are aimed at:
• Supporting the development of an artist’s existing practice
• Encouraging artists to live and work in South Tipperary
• Contribute to the growth of skilled artists in the county
There are two awards
1. Emerging Artist Award, €1,000 (1 award available)
2. Artist Award - €2,000 (2 awards available)
Applications will be considered from artists working in all art forms:
• For the creative research and development of new work.
• Initiatives that can demonstrate the development of an artist’s existing practice
• To allow time for an artist to concentrate on their practice, releasing them from other commitments.
This is not an education bursary.
The Bursary Award is open to individual artists at all stages of their career, (one award will be allocated to an emerging artist), working in any art-form, art practice discipline or genre. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are practising professional artists.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Thursday 25th April 2013. Applications received after this date will not be considered. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UNDER SECTION 12 OF THE ARTS ACT, 1973
Applications are invited from individuals and groups in South Tipperary organising an exhibition, performance or other event in 2013, the effect of which when held would stimulate public interest in the Arts, promote knowledge, appreciation and practice of the Arts, and assist in improving the standard of the Arts. The Arts are defined in the act as including painting, sculpture, architecture, music, drama, literature, design in industry, the cinema and the fine arts and applied acts generally.
