Independent TD Mattie McGrath has expressed his hope that all families and children in particular experience a safe and fun filled Halloween.
Deputy McGrath was speaking as communities across the county are gearing up for the spooky and creative festival which unfortunately also brings with it its fair share of unnecessary injuries and burns: “Halloween is great time of the year for kids in particular when they can let their imagination go and travel around doing Trick or Treat.
I would just ask that once again all activities are engaged in responsibly and with some thought for those elderly neighbours of ours who can find the experience a little intimidating.
Children in particular need to be very visible especially given how dark the evenings get at this time of the year.
We should not forget that with the amount of bonfires usually lit both the fire Services and the Gardaí are often extremely busy on Halloween night and to that end I would call on everyone to work together to ensure that they can go about their work in a safe and respectful way,” concluded Deputy McGrath.
