Labour Party candidate Shane Lee grew up in Roscrea listening to the stories of the great Tommy Shanahan, and all he did for the people in Roscrea and Templemore.
“I hope to emulate Tommy in his work ethic and he has left some huge shoes to fill. I am also delighted to have the support of Tommy’s son Michael, his grand-daughter Mary and their family.
“In Roscrea, Thurles, Templemore and the surrounding areas we have a major issue in respect to jobs and employment. I am working very hard on this big issue and have made some substantial gains in recent weeks which I am very positive about. Recently I met with the Hauliers of Roscrea, as a group, one of the area’s largest means of employment. The meeting we had was very productive and since, they have been to the Dáil where they were able to have their issues heard. This point is key to what I wish to achieve, we must support sustainable employment that currently exists while indentifying and pursuing other employment possibilities. I have also met with local property owners and we are working hard, together, to create some movement on employment while trying to help young entrepreneurs and the self employed where possible, these are all very positive in terms of employment and job creation.
