Details of the 2012 Parade are being finalised and once again we are delighted to announce a Prize Fund of €2000, which is sure to prove a great draw for both visitors from near and far. This year’s winning entries will be decided by the independent judging panel specially convened for the parade and will add a touch of competitiveness amongst the many groups taking part in the parade.
Another record breaking year is being forecast, as the Committee continue to expand and develop ideas for North Tipperary’s longest running and most successful parade.
The parade will commence at 12.30pm (sharp) from the Thurles Road area and will parade along the crowded streets, where it will be reviewed at the Town Hall, by the Mayor, Town & County Councillors, Oireachtas members, as well as other various dignitaries and guests. Entries will be accepted up to the morning of the parade and the prize money is sure to provoke keen interest.
The Grand Marshal, which is awarded to the individual who is seen as an exemplary community activist or who has committed voluntarily to our town, will be announced after the Annual Blessing of the Shamrock, which will take place on Friday 16th March at 8.30pm in the Templemore Arms Hotel. The local Thomas McDonagh Pipe Band will parade the recipient and the Shamrock for the Blessing Ceremony into the Hotel at the launch of the festivities.
