BREAKING: Nearly 4,000 homes without power in Tipperary after Storm Ali

Nearly 4,000 homes and businesses are without power this morning in Tipperary after Storm Ali continues to batter the country.

Just over 1,037 premises in Templemore lost electricity at around 9.30am on Wednesday morning. The ESB are currently working to resume power in the area however electricity is not expected to resume until around 7pm this evening.

In Thurles more than 770 homes are currently without power while an estimated 300 homes lost power in the Glengoole and Ballingarry areas this morning with power also expected to resume at around 7pm tonight.

Over 1355 homes lost electricity in Birdhill while power outages also occurred in Cahir, Grange and Kyleeragh where over 375 homes are currently without electricity. 

An estimated 186,000 customers across Ireland have been left without power this morning as a result of over 1,400 individual faults on the network while dozens of flights have also been cancelled. Fallen trees on overhead lines are responsible for most of the damage to the network.

One woman was fatally injured in Galway after the caravan she was sleeping in was blown off a cliff in Claddaghduff during Storm Ali sometime before 8am this morning. 

A Status Yellow Wind Warning will remain in place for Tipperary until 5pm today.
