Seamus Healy TD welcomes Tipperary Co. Council’s permission for Clonmel Hospital's 40-bed extension

Seamus Healy TD

Deputy Seamus Healy has welcomed the decision of Tipperary County Council to grant planning permission for the new two storey extension at South Tipperary General Hospital.

This will give the green light to the construction of the new 40 bed in-patient unit at the hospital.

On September 5th, An Bord Pleanala gave the go ahead for a new two-story extension to the rear of the existing South Tipperary General Hospital.

The development can be accessed off the first floor of the existing Hospital through a single storey link corridor, which is part of a separate planning application.

The plant room will be accessed at ground floor off the existing South Tipperary General Hospital, Clonmel. The proposed development is within the curtilage of a protected structure of South Tipperary General Hospital.

Fourteen conditions were attached to the decision to grant planning permission.

Progress on the facility was made earlier in the year when the contract at the Clonmel hospital was awarded to Healthare Accommodation and Staffing solutions.
