Over 5,000 students to sit State Examinations in Tipperary

More than 5,000 students are expected to sit State Examinations this morning in Tipperary.

Up to 2,200 Leaving Certificate students began English Paper 1 at 9.30am this morning, with nearly 100 LCA students in Tipperary sitting down to their first exam in English and Communications at 9.45am.

Another 2,215 Junior Certificate students in the county will also begin their English exam this morning followed by Civic, Social and Political Education exam this afternoon.

State Exams will continue until June 22 with the final exams in Italian, Japanese, Technology, Religion and Applied Maths.

Education Minister Richard Bruton wished all those sitting exams today to 'do their best' saying "you've put a lot of effort in to get to this point and you can only do your best so don't get too tense as you approach these exams."
