Nenagh streets to close for resurfacing over the summer
Tipperary County Council is proposing to close four Nenagh streets on a temporary basis over the summer to facilitate resurfacing works.
The road closures will happen on a rollover basis, with each project starting as the previous one finishes.
The council is involved in a reinstatement programme with Gas Netoworks Ireland following the completion of the €14m major water, waste water and natural gas pipe laying project.
The council plans to close Emmett Place from Monday, June 25 to Wednesday, June 27.
It proposes to close Sarsfield Street in two phases between Thursday, June 28, to Friday, July 6.
It is seeking to close Mitchel Street from Monday, July 9, to Wednesday, July 11.
And finally, the council has scheduled work in three phases for Summerhill between Thursday, July 12 and Friday, August 3.
Diversions will be in place for each of the closures, with altrnative routes during the Emmett Place works being Kickham Street, Pearse Street and Mitchel Street in both directions; and Kickham Street, Ashe Road, Cudville, Clare Street and Sarsfield Street in both directions.
For Sarsfield Street, the alternative route will be Clare Street, Cudville, Ashe Road, Kickham Street, Pearse Street and Mitchel Street in both directions.
Michel Street alternatives routes will be Sarsfield Street, Clare Street, Cudville, Ashe Road, Kickham Street and Pearse Street in both directions; or Silver Street and William Street.
The alternative route for Summerhill is Pearse Street, Kickham Street, O’Rahilly Street, New Line and Ormond Street in both directions.
Objections to the proposed temporary closure may be submitted in writing to the Director of Services, Roads, Transportation & Health and Safety, Tipperary County Council, Civic Offices, Limerick Road, Nenagh, not later than 12 noon on Friday, June 8.
