Tipperary farmers urged to walk and talk about mental health over May bank holiday weekend

Tipperary farmers are being encouraged to take part in Green Ribbon walks

The Irish Farmers Association is hosting Let’s Talk and Walk events on Sunday, May 6, in Ballycuggaran Woods, Killaloe, at 12pm and Monday, May 7, in Portumna Forest Park at 3pm.

The walks are being organised to support the Green Ribbon campaign this May.

The Green Ribbon campaign is a month-long campaign to get people talking openly about mental health and to break the stigma of silence associated with mental health.

Imelda Walsh, North Tipperary IFA chairperson, said the walks were a great chance to take time out with family and friends in beautiful surrounds, and to show support for this hugely important mental health campaign.

“Everybody knows somebody who has been affected by mental health problems.

“This is an opportunity for farm families and all in the community to take time out for a couple of hours to look after their mental well-being and support this very worthwhile campaign,” she said.
