Five exchange students from Rockwell College were treated to a nice surprise when they recently attended the Pau v Brive match in Pau on Saturday April 14th.

After the match they were greeted by Pau No. 8 Paddy Butler (Cashel), who brought them to the post-match party. They met with the Pau team and got to pose for photographs with Conrad Smith and Jamie Mackintosh, All Black and World Cup Winners; Stefan Armitage former England international and Dave Foley (Clonmel) Irish International.

“I could not believe how sound they were,” commented Daire Murphy from Kilsheelan.

The students were well looked after by Dave Foley and Paddy for over an hour. They departed with warm hearts and autographed jerseys.

While the meeting was a surprise to the students it was no co-incidence as Pat Egan, T.Y Co-ordinator of Rockwell, organised the meeting unbeknownst to the students.

Those who attended the match were part of a group of eight students from Rockwell College who took part in the annual 3-week French Exchange with St Josephs in Nay.

This is the 10th year of the exchange between the two schools. These students have had many day excursions like visits to Lourdes. The students and their eight exchange partners will return home on Wednesday 25th. The exchange partners will spend a number of weeks in Rockwell sampling Irish culture and ways of life.
