The final touches are being put to Garret Ahearn's new constituency office in Cahir
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar is to visit Cahir tomorrow evening, to open a constituency office for Fine Gael’s Tipperary election candidate, Garret Ahearn.
The son of the late TD Theresa Ahearn defeated six other candidates for the nomination in the early hours of Sunday, March 11th, with just six votes separating him from nearest rival Mary Newman, a sister of sitting TD for Dublin Bay South Kate O’Connell.
Mr Ahearn will welcome the Taoiseach to Cahir on Friday between 4pm and 6pm, in a bid to boost his electoral chances. Currently, Fine Gael have no sitting TD in Co. Tipperary, but hopes are high in the party that Mr Ahearn can regain at least one seat for the party in the Premier County.
Yesterday, Mr Ahearn tweeted: “Final preparations for the visit of An Taoiseach @campaignforleo to Cahir this Friday to open my new @FineGael Constituency office. Thank you to a great local business Flannery signs for the front! All are welcome…”
