A former Macra Mr Personality has swapped the milking parlor for the catwalk after making his modelling debut in the 2018 Irish Farmer calendar in aid of Bóthar.

Templemore’s Paudie Meade made his first foray into the cutthroat world of fashion by landing the coveted 'Mr October' spot in the calendar for this year's Bóthar fundraiser.

Paudie, who is a former chair of Devil’s Bit Macra and ‘Mr Personality 2013’ title holder, said he was convinced to take part by Callan Macra club member Brendan Phelan. However the 30 year old dairy farmer says he won’t be hanging up his wellies just yet for the catwalks of Milan as he says “it was all for a bit of fun.”

“Some of the lads know about it but I don’t think word has spread to everyone yet about my photo shoot. I’ve got a bit of slagging over it but it’s all only banter and it’s for a good cause so why not.”

“It took over an hour to get the shot for the calendar. They were telling us look this and that way, move over here, hold this and so on. It was a good experience but I don’t think I’ll be changing careers anytime soon,” the JK Brackens club man told the Tipperary Star.

Alongside Paudie, this year’s calendar features farmers from Kilkenny, Roscommon, Wexford, Derry and Dublin and was shot on location at Croan Cottages and farm in Kilkenny.

Proceeds from the calendar, which is now in it’s ninth year, go towards Bóthar, which supports poor farmers in Africa and third world countries to become self-sufficient by giving them livestock.

The calendar costs €10.99 and is available to buy from farmercalendar.com and Calendar Club stores across Ireland.
