Take the plunge over the Festive Season
Here's five great things to do in Tipperary on Stephen's Day
Here's five things to do in Tipperary on St Stephens Day once the turkey and ham has been well digested.
We all want to get out and about, take in a bit of fresh air and walk off the excesses of the Festive Season. Well, why not embark upon some of the suggestions below.
Of course, if you are feeling really energetic, you could do the Goal Mile challenge across one of the five Tipperary locations. They will be staged in: Townhall Fethard (Tolsil), CHRISTMAS DAY, Midday; Moyglass Sports and Leisure Centre, CHRISTMAS DAY, 11am; Borrisokane AC, Christmas Morning, 10am: Tipperary Town Hills, Christmas Day, 11am - Midday: Ormonde Castle, Carrick-on-Suir (Carrick Runners GOAL Mile).
But, on St Stephen's Day when the Wren Boys are out about, why not head to Holycross village where some brave souls will take on the icy waters of the River Suir in aid of the local St Michael's National School. Jump in for an experience of the lifetime!!
Afterwards, if you wish to warm up, take a drive to Templemore town and check out the fabulous Town Park - renowned for it's walks and lake.
If you feel a little more energetic, maybe you climb the Galtees or Slievenamon - now that would give you a fair appetite for the turkey leftovers.
A trip to Lough Derg will provide plenty of activities too with boating, fishing and ample opportunity to have swim also.
Fancy a bit of hillwalking? There are great family hiking routes from The Devil's Bit to Upperchurch to Bishops Wood in Dundrum to the Clare Glens near Newport - all fantastic ways to spend time with the family, enjoy some fresh air, and exercise.
Then, on St Stephen's night, take to the town and continue your festive celebrations, unless you are planning on a night in front of the TV with family or friends.
Loads to do then in Tipp on St Stephen's Day. Make sure to get out and about.
