The 2015 inter-county campaigns will begin on the weekend of January 9th-11th.
In the preliminary round of the Waterford Crystal Cup the Tipperary senior hurlers will host Mary Immaculate College on Friday, January 9th in Dr. Morris Park, Thurles at 7.30pm. The winner of that encounter will face Clare in the quarter-finals on the weekend of January 18th.
Tipperary won the Waterford Crystal Cup in 2014 when beating Clare 4-22 to 3-11 in the final. Tipperary lost the 2013 final to Clare (1-13 to 1-21), but beat the Banner in the 2012 decider (1-21 to 2-12).
Having progressed to the last three finals of this competition it will be interesting to see how Eamon O’Shea and company approach this year’s campaign.
The Tipperary footballers refused to participate in the 2014 McGrath Cup as part of a protest against the seeding of the Munster senior championship. Tipperary, however, will be competing in the competition this year and await the winner of the clash between Cork and Mary Immaculate College in the quarter-finals - that last eight fixture is scheduled to take place on the weekend of January 11th.
Prior to the 2014 competition Tipperary progressed to the final of the McGrath Cup in both 2012 and 2013 - Tipp lost the decider to Cork in 2012 and to Kerry in 2013.
