Thurles Sarsfields, the defending champions and 5/4 outright favourites, have been handed a tough draw for the group stages of the 2015 Clean Ireland Recycling County Senior Hurling Championship.
Thurles Sarsfields have been drawn against Kildangan, Moycarkey-Borris and Upperchurch-Drombane in group two of the 2015 Clean Ireland Recycling County Senior Hurling Championship.
With the revamped structure of the competition now in its second year Monday night’s draw captured the imagination of hurling supporters across the county.
Similarly to 2014 Roinn I will feature four groups of four teams with the top two in each group progressing to the last 16 and the bottom side dropping to Roinn II for 2016.
Incidentally the last 16 of the championship will also feature each winner of the Roinn II groups and the divisional champions.
Nenagh Éire Óg, Clonoulty-Rossmore, Templederry Kenyons and Ballina have been draw in group one of Roinn I.
As previously indicated Kildangan, Moycarkey-Borris, Upperchurch-Drombane and Thurles Sarsfields have been drawn in group two.
In group three you will find Loughmore-Castleiney, Killenaule, west champions Éire Óg Annacarty and Lorrha-Dorrha while in group four Drom & Inch will be favoured to progress against Borris-Ileigh, Burgess and Kilruane MacDonagh’s.
With so much at stake, including potential relegation, the Roinn II groups are sure to present us with plenty of drama. In group one of Roinn II Carrick Swans, JK Bracken’s, Knockavilla Kickhams and 2014 intermediate champions Moyne-Templetuohy have been drawn together.
In group two you will find Roscrea, Holycross-Ballycahill and Borrisokane.
In group three Toomevara will be fancied against Mullinahone, Boherlahan-Dualla and Ballingarry while Silvermines, Portroe, Cappawhite and Moneygall all feature in group four.
There are only three teams in group two of Roinn II since there are now thirty one teams in the county championship.
Thurles Sarsfields lead the betting at 5/4 to land Dan Breen in 2015 with Drom & Inch installed as second favourites (9/4).
Meanwhile the 2013 champions and 2014 finalists Loughmore-Castleiney are priced at an attractive 8/1.
The draw for the group stages of the Clean Ireland Recycling Tipperary Senior Football Championship was also made on Monday evening.
Group one features Killenaule, Kilsheelan-Kilcash, Éire Óg Annacarty and Thomas MacDonaghs. In group two you will find Aherlow Gaels, Moyle Rovers, Ardfinnan, Ballyporeen, Drom & Inch.
